The withdrawal method is not a full proof method to prevent pregnancy, but I can say my husband and i have done it successfully for about 2 years now. We do have one daughter who just turned 3 years old yesterday and I tried some forms of birth control like the pill, depo, the patch & the o-ring. And none of them were good for me cause I couldn't remember to take the pill with a new baby all I was pre-occupied, depo made my period come every other week, the patch I had an allergic reaction too & the o-ring kept sliding. So, we went with the withdrawal method after all that and I haven't had to much of a problem, but keep in mind that you are still taking a risk without some other form of birth control. We take the risk because we are married and want more kids so now we are actually trying, but if you know you don't want kids that risk might be to much for you. So, choice wisely as to what you want and if you stick with the withdrawal method at least have the thought in the back of your mind that there is always that chance you may end up pregnant. Good Luck!

Are you guys monogamous and do you have a very very regular cycle? If so, withdrawal should work about 85% of the time. You should know when you ovulate and avoid sex during those times. Also, if you are not prepared for the possibility of pregnancy, sex probably isn't the best thing unless you are using condoms and/or birth control.
Just so you know, my husband and I successfully used the withdrawal method for 2 1/2 years, and were told by a doctor that it should be ok as long as the above was correct.

You can use the withdrawal method if you like, but you are stilling taking the chance of getting pregnant since there is some semen release prior to ejaculation. Your best bets for not getting pregnant are abstinence(the only guarantee), condoms, or some other form of birth control.

Try the birth control pill.
And if you've been using the withdrawal method for over 3 yrs with no pregnancy, you might want to see a doctor about infertility - it's pretty unusual that you wouldn't have gotten pregnant by now.

You are playing with fire in this situation. Using withdraw method isn't even a viable solution to not become pregnant. Don't let him talk you into things that you will regret later because it isn't that he has skill he has just been very very lucky. Is it worth it to have good sex and no condom with a child running around or responsible sex and be where you want to be in life. Sex should not be Russian Roulette.

over 3 years and no pregnancy. well it still can happen. i dont like to advocate this alot cuz folks like to get willy nilly with stuff. but film contraceptive is good. its not commital and you can get it from the free health unit in your area and it even protects against some stds. but it is highly recommended you use it with condoms. i am not a doctor or health professional so i don't feel comfortabel telling you to use film alone. although it has worked for me.
i wont suggest prescriped birth control either. it is just too risky these days and in my opinion not worth it. how about a sponge or someting of that sort. make an appoint at a clinic or with your doctor and explore options.
please note nothing is fool proof or completely accurate. pulling out isn't, condoms aren't, pills, shots, or film. but pulling out is low on the todem pole for preventing pregnancy.

First of all....the "withdrawl method" is NOT a form of birth control. Any time you have sex, especailly without a condom, you are putting yourself at risk of getting pregnant. If you are not ready for a baby, use real birth control and a condom.

Investigate Natural Family Planning, www.ccli.org. It is way more effective than withdrawl and more enjoyable. Using NFP I have spaced my two kids perfectly. They are three years apart. It works.

My husband used withdrawal and we have twin daughters. It's definitely not a safe method of birth control.
