I am a Transexual, Living in UK. In order to move forward with Gender Reassignment I need to start living as a female, as me. I am worried though about going out in public dressed as a female? what are your thoughts? what would you think if you passed me? I am quite passable, well my female freinds seem to think so?

As one of the other answerers says, the key thing is not to go over-the top. I think for your first few forays it might be advisable to wear slightly gender-neutral clothes - perhaps jeans and a top with a feminine cut - rather than a dress or skirt. And take some of your friends with you too - if you're concerned about standing out you will feel more comfortable with your friends, and other people will be more accepting of you too if they consider you to be part of a group.

It can be a slow process to gain confidence in the RLE, and it can be dashed very quickly by cruel and thoughtless comments. Be under no illusions, there will be some comments, and it will hurt, but hang in there.

Good luck.

Haven't you been out dressed to clubs yet? That should be your first step. As you make friends there, you can go out and about in more mainstream situations. I see Tgirls almost everyday but then I have a trained eye. I also go to Tgirls venues and think that there are a lot of Rgirls there, only to be proved wrong. I know a lot who feel uncomfortable about going out and getting read even though they are fairly convincing if just a little plain.

Today I saw 3 Tgirls or more accurately, I read 3 Tgirls. One only gave it away by an effeminate rather than a feminine gesture. As I said before, you can be convincing but not particularly attractive which might work in your favour if you don't want to attract men.

even if it were obvious that you were not a woman, if you are ashamed to go out in public and live as one then why do you want gender reassignment? You are who you are, as long as you did not harrass or threaten me, then I wouldn't think anything if I passed you on the street. I think you have some soul searching to do, and a talk with somebody might help you sort out your feelings and your head-good luck with that.

I hope you end up happy whatever you choose to do and however you choose to live.

If i passed you in the UK i'd probably smile at you and carry on walking. At the end of the day i'd smile to anyone whether they were smiling back or had a frown, your no different from anyone else. Yes your changing, but for th better and good luck to u all the way :))

(oh p.s, i'd only be smiling if i was havin a good day lol, which is most days but some days i have my bad uns just like everyone else)

Just do it! Honestly, most people are too wrapped up in their own little world to really care about anyone else, especially a stranger on the street. Of course there are a##holes out there, but don't let them get to you. Having someone go with you can be a big help. My sister was by my side for emotional support my first time out.

If you pass then why worry?

Just start small. Jacket + shoes..... keep adding things now and then. Shirt. Pants. Add jewelry. Then accessories. Then makeup.

I think it's fine to mix your unisex male clothing with female clothing at first.

If you need confidence, going slow is better than jumping right in and going all out with a full fem outfit.

you will get noticed, everyone does. the important thing is to be strong, be confident and be yourself. you will be surprised that for every bad comment you will probably get severl good comments. and if your passable then you just have to have the faith in yourself and face the world. its hard but the more you do it the easier it gets. i have been living full time for over 3 years now. i dont even notice if someone gives me looks now. i go about my business without giving it a thought.

if you know that you are a woman inside then you must be true to yourself and as nike says " just do it"

enjoy your new life as a woman.

Well, I'd have to see a picture to know, but what makes a transexual look really obvious is overdoing it. Try to be as natural as possible with your make-up-no harsh eyeliner, lipliner, or browliner. Just do your best not to look like a drag queen. If you're really passable, you can get a make-up artist at a department store to do your make-up for you. Good luck, Sweetie.

I think its absolutley fine, each to their own! To be honest where i live its pretty quiet and if you were living somewhere like here you may stand out a litlle more but i'm sure you will be perfectly fine.

Just have lots of confidence and hold your head up high.

Merry Christmas x
