we own a 93 cavilier and last night we were driving down the road and it just died. we started it again and put it in drive, went about 3 feet and it happened again. repeat. finally parked and called for a ride. what would cause this?

check to see if it is a fuel delivery or spark problem and proceed from there

When it died, did it sputter like it was out of gas? Could be a clogged fuel filter or fuel line. Possibly the fuel pump, but those rarely tend to go bad.

Was there gas in it? Did you check under the hood? It could be a variety of things. You might need a new fuel pump. Are all the lights working? It could be your alternator..It could be low on fluids. When was your last oil change?

It sounds like the fuel pump, which I believe is located in the fuel tank itself... first things first>>
Check your fuses ( or those bladed circuit) breakers.. If that's not the problem, blocked fuel filter... If that's not it its time to get to a mechanic or replace the fuel pump and filter yourself ... Good Luck! If the fuel system is fine check the electrical system next...

questions like this need much more detail lol. It could be a number of things. Even a broken fuel gauge so u think you have gas and dont...any other symptoms?

it could be a vacuum leak,low on fuel pressure,weak ignition coils
