The only way to get your pokémon to level 100 is to train up your team.

I suppose you could use a gameshark to get infinite rare candies, but your team will end up being weaker than they would if you trained them up.

The reason for this is that every pokémon has a set Effort Value attached to it. every time you defeat a pokémon, either in the wild or in a trainer battle, you will get a certain ammount of Effort Values in a specific stat. For example, defeating a Machop will put one Effort Value into the attack stat. When you have 4 Effort values, you will gain one point in the appropriate stat.

You can have a total of 252 Effort Values in any one stat and a grand total of 510 are availible. You will know when all Effort Values have been applied because you can get an Effort ribbon from Slateport city.

If you use Rare candies, Effort Values already obtained are applied, but new ones are not obtained.
