Hello,
I am doing an assignment on Sydney's gay & lesbian Mardi Gras and was curious as to whether is occured (Shrove Tuesday) within Australia's peak tourist season?

Please excuse me, but I was wondering where I might find this information? also any credible sources of information on the event and its impacts would be fantastic.

Thanks very much,

Si

The peak tourist season for Australia, like any other country, is summer. For Australia, this is September to March. The Mardi Gras is in February and is a month long festival ending in a carnival. The end of the peak tourist season is not long after the Madri Gras.

I'd suggest that the highlight of the peak season would be NYE through to Australia Day (27th (?) January), when they have the Festival of Light in Darling Harbour (the fireworks on NYE are the perfect star to the festival!).

Mardi Gras is towards the tail end of the hottest part of the year, still an amazing time to visit and extremely busy in Sydney. Not that there's any real quiet time though!

In Sydney you can enjoy the normal beauty. From unspoilt beaches to community gardens and, of course, the shining harbour, Sydney is really a city worth visited and with hotelbye you could have the chance to do that. The Sydney Harbour Bridge or "Coathanger," since the locals contact it's among the places you shouldn't miss in your trip here. This place was the city's best-known landmark prior to construction of the Opera House. Supported by significant dual piers at each conclusion, it absolutely was built in 1932 and remains the world's largest steel arc bridge, connecting the harbour's north and south shores in one single curve growing 134 metros above the water. Along their size work two railway lines and ten lanes for path traffic, the way of which is often varied according to traffic flow. Also, to learn concerning the exciting record of the bridge's construction you can look at the museum in the south-eastern pier.
