I"m not a gamer or big video player. Will use for e-mail and web searches. Worth the cost?

Only if you got a big bargain price. I have 17" and 19" and I prefer 17" monitor however if you increase the distance between you and the monitor you will not have to squint to focus on the whole screen. Use cordless mouse with this monitor setup so you have more flexibility with the viewing distance and surfing. Good luck, it is your preference.

Nobody can make this decision for you except you, but my opinion is that a 22" screen isn't worth getting just for internet functions unless you're going to buy a monitor anyway and you can get a 22" screen at the same price as a 17" or 19" one. I don't know how much multitasking you do, but I can't see web browsing and emailing requiring that much desktop space, even if you do both at the same time.

That's up to your personal preference. It would definitely allow you to fit more on the screen because you can set the resolution higher.
