Doesn't this suggest that lesbianisn like homosexuality in men, is a reaction to bad social/relationship experiences and NOT a natural phenomoenon as some would have us believe??

I find so many lesbians are nasty hateful towards men, yet try to look like men, this is strange behavior and i find a lot of lesbians are actually mentally ill.

They then hijac the womens movement to turn more women gay and more women into man haters..

Who agrees?

most lesbains are abuse victims because most women are abuse victims..... rough guestimations place the percentage of women who were abused during the first 18 years of their life at something like 70 %....... so any group of women would be mostly abuse victims...

Bloody sad isnt it!

Wow, that's alot of statements.

Where do you get your statisitcs from? The number of women that have had at least some sort of negative sexual experience is something like 1 in 3 but not 1 in 3 women are lesbians. Also, how do you explain that many lesbians first started having 'mild' lesbian attractions from 5 years upwards long before they ever have any sexual experiences.

Last but not least - lesbians don't hate men. Lesbians have friends, brothers, fathers and sons that they love dearly. I think you are trying to stir up intolerance to lesbians.

All women would like to be free from sexism surely? Sexism can b carried out by both men and women.

Also, the media etc report on male violence and that women become lesbians to experience the safty of being with other women. But every woman knows that women are quite capable of negative behaviour, violence and victimisation.

Ultimately, your argument that lesbians would become gay because of sexual violence in the past doesn't make sense.

Lesbians are just the way they are and it's ridiculous to try and explain away such a large proportion of the human race. Animals can be gay too, do you think they make it up as well?

Some women who have been sexually abused or raped have trust issues and find it very hard to have a sexual relationship (due to re-occurring memories) with a man for the rest of their life. Therefore, some women who face that kind of trauma do actually turn to women for that type of love instead. Nothing wrong with that, everyone should have a chance to be happy and be able to love someone.

WOW! Okay so first I'm a lesbian and I've never been abused by anyone. I've been attracted to girls since I was very young. Very few lesbians I know are 'man haters'. My personal problem with straight men (I live in nyc and I don't know if it's like this everywhere or just here) is they think they own women. The straight men I've encountered here have the idea that they are entitled to 'hit on'/ harrass any woman that walks in front of them. This does not mean however that I hate men. I don't, I hate they way some of them act. I hate the way people like you think.

oh and I don't know if it's such a good idea to come to the women's studies section and bash women.

Maybe you should actually do some research before you spout off preaching a load of bull. Did you know that homophobia is often caused because people are scared of their own sexuality? Think about that. (by the way, in case you are wondering, i am not a lesbian - i just think that they are normal people like everyone else)

Hijack the women's movement? The second wave of feminism that began in the late 60's/early 70's WAS STARTED by man-hating lesbians! That's why it remains to this day so full of bile and hatred towards men...that was intentionally designed into it.

Edit - J P - You need to take a look in the mirror. Not all lesbians are dykes...in fact the non-dyke contingent is the one that's been on the rise for years and is beginning to skyrocket amongst younger (under 25) girls. Examine your data before making such an arrogant post.

Edit 2 - Please note I'm not trying to suggest that all lesbians hate men.

You are referencing ignorant stereotypes. Shame on you. The women's movement was to gain equality for genders, not to "turn" women gay. It is not possible to "turn" someone gay. Stop being so hateful, it will get you no where in life.

i'm absolutely on the edge of my seat waiting to hear how you've gathered your data about "most lesbians". i find it fascinating that you not only have the credentials to diagnose mental illness, but also know enough lesbians to have identified this mysterious illness in "a lot" of them. these must be some crafty, crazy women who are able, despite their incapacitated mental condition, to hijack entire movements and "turn more women gay". sign me up!

I don't know about ALL lesbians hating men, but I do agree with you that it's very odd how they don't care for men sexually but try to look like them. I don't get it...

The feminist movement has done so much harm to women that I just don't know where to start. The point of feminism is to celebrate women, and all that is female, yet most feminists would tear women apart who make choices that aren't regarded as 'feminist'. The double standard baffles me. How can a woman who chooses to be a stay-at-home mother, for example, be told that her choice is anti-feminist and isn't as worthy as a woman who is trying to fight her way up the corporate ladder?

Plus the fact that, the way things are going these days, the straight, white, Christian male is really starting to be the one that gets screwed over time and time again. In the workplace, many employers pass them over in order to fill 'quotas', in academia, scholarships are given on the basis of race or sexual orientation, and have you ever heard of "Men's Studies"?

Obviously you're being misinformed. Perhaps there were some who were abused, just like heterosexual people. But that was not always the deciding factor.

I think you're just angry that women would turn your advances down so you're thinking of derogatory things to say about those that won't get all batty at your presence. Just accept the fact that there are some women who don't want you no matter what you do.

I suspect, by your comments, that you just want to get all the "angry men" going, and agreeing with you. :-)

Homosexuality is nature, and not always nurture.

Insinuating that anyone becomes a homosexual because they were abused is as stupid as saying heterosexuals became hetero because they were abused by a homosexual. Use your noggin!!

What causes men like you to be so angry at being turned down? Figure that one out! Are you mentally capable of accepting the fact that all people are different, and not "all" are as angry and as nasty as you percieve them to be? What causes your bad behavior towards those that don't want to react to your advances towards them?

Just accept it, and move on, instead of trying to get everyone else to hate them. :-) Be a man!
