It was a female green anole(lizard). She began about 3 months ago starting to become noticably thinner and bones were visible under skin. Died in the afternoon, with an open wound on the side of her stomache. It was brown and it was like her stomache ruptured or burst. I couldnt do anything, she was about 4 yrs old and since i am only so old i couldnt take her to the vet do to my family thinking it want important enough to spend money on. What happened?

Anoles are caught in the wild so it is hard to determine their ages. Most anoles only live for three years and if you had a large male, chances are that he was almost fully grown. What it sounds like is that she had an internal parasite or she might have gotten something from what you were feeding her. To take her to the vet it very costly if you can find one that will have done something for her. Sorry for your lost, I have 6 anoles of my own and I have lost a few over the years.

I am just guessing and I have had several anole, but it might have died of old age. I know that anole reach sexual maturity in 9 months, so in 4 years they had enough time on earth to reproduce. That is the main goal of most animals is reproducing young and anoles only lay two eggs at a time.

I had three anoles, one of them lost its foot because of my cousin. And the other died shortly, i think it was because it was old. The mark on its stomach is from when the lizard dies and is in the same position for a long time. The body becomes dis functional and the blood stops flowing so the body begins to rot

As a reptile owner, I know their problems are usually related to diet, water, heat, or cleanliness.

Did you feed the anole enough? Did you mix in fiber and vitamins in addition to the crickets and mealworms?

Did you get fresh water every day?

Did you have a heat source?

Did you clean out your cage at least every week?

From your description it sounds like a bacterial problem likely caused by diet or an unclean environment.
