I can't think of many; muse covering "feeling good" is better and I'll get slated for this but I prefer Michael's Jackson's version of Come Together - shoot me now?

I prefer Pearl Jam's cover of Last Kiss over the original by Wayne Cochran & The C.C. Riders or the popular cover by J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers.

I also have to agree with the above about Blinded By The Light. Manfred Mann's cover is better than Bruce's original... imo

Muse covering feeling good is good, but the Nina Simone classic is definately the ultimate version. I like Muse's version but have to disagree with you, about it being better than the original. Come together by Michael Jackson.... Nope sorry don't agree, but I definately don't want to shoot you. I have my weird tastes as well so, I can't really complain. However for the ultimate cover you should check Jeff Buckley's version of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" That song brings me to tears all the time. Great track beautifully sang by the late Jeff Buckley. A guy with an amazing voice range. You should give it a try.

Ditto to the person noting Johnny Cash covers. The original "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode is great, but the Johnny Cash version is awesome as well. Tori Amos's version of Joe Jackson's "Real Men" is so much better than the original.

Bad Tori covers? Let's say her version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit"...I know it's a cult favorite for Tori fans, and for that I apologize.

Nouvelle Vague's cover of 'In A Manner Of Speaking'
I liked this version so much I decided to get the original version - and didn't like it at all
This Mortal Coil's version of 'Song To The Siren' is amazing despite how good the Tim Buckley original is

Everything but the girls's cover of Rod Stewarts "I dont want to talk about it " I think that was superb....I've also got to confess that I think that Roxy Music's version of John Lennon's " jealous guy" was superior.

Music is the essence!!!! Everyone has a different taste and opinion and thats what makes All music (whether a cover or an original) facinating!!!..........in my opinion ;-)

I know what you mean about come together, strangely good!
I like Sheryl Crow's First Cut is the Deepest. This was the first version of the song I heard and liked it. Then I heard the Rod Stewart version after.
I also like It's my Life by No Doubt.
That was a goodie.

“Blinded by the Light” covered by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band; Original by Bruce Springsteen. Ironically, the boss hated the remake. Also a funny anecdote about “wrapped up like a deuce”.

Intersting question. It quite relies upon for me, regularly i admire the unique extra powerful, yet i in my view get excitement from the covers that the pink warm Chili Peppers and Rage against The device do. they actually make the music unique and exciting.
