like the mall or a restaraunt? Don't you realize how tackly you look? Why is it so difficult to dress half way decent with a pair of pants and a decent shirt? Who wants to look at your hairy legs when they're eating? And showing up on a date dressed like that you make a terrible impression. I know it's not just guys and women dress terrible too.

as far as being comfortable, I am more comfortable with my hair down and no make up on and no shoes and in my jammies but I won't go out like that. I guess if you had to pee and there was no bathroom around rather than hold it for 10 or 15 minutes, you would just pee on the floor to be comfortable. I am more comfortable in bed than walking around, maybe we could start putting beds in offices and stores so we can work in bed because it is more comfortable.

The reasons vary for the dress code you are speaking of.
I'm sure the answers will vary but, the simple truth is: Most guys thinks they are making a statement in their dress.
Whether it's wrinkled, torn, baggy, or plain sloppy some think they are looked at as a trend setter or following trend.
Here is the ugly truth: Poor taste is not a fashion statement! When you show up on a date in shorts, you may think you are being cool but, you are only being cool to those that think exactly like you. There's a paradox here, if you want to be with some one that think exactly like you... Date yourself!
The world is full of diversity but, one thing hasn't changed over the millennium and probably won't change in the future: Courtesy, respect and common sense! They represent the pillar of all society and can't be budged by dressing down in shorts to make yourself think you are too cool. Make you personal statement in a boy girl relationship by acting mature. Make the statement about how cool you are to people who think it's a statement!

It's more of a comfortable look for them. Most guys are not into dressing nice, unless they're a bit older, Metro or Gay. And as for the hairy legs showing...well...I'm married to a half Italian guy and I love his hairy legs! In fact...he has the sexiest legs I've ever seen on any guy and the hair just makes him look like more of a man. :-p It's only distasteful to dress that way when they're going somewhere formal. Otherwise...let them be. They're being themselves. At least the guys who dress like that aren't so high maintenance and don't want you touching their pound of gel in their spiked hair...
And wow...you took that way out of context. Being comfortable and being a lazy slob that's comfortable are two different things. You obviously have the mentality of a 15 year old. Shouldn't you be in school? If I were to ask my husband which is more comfortable...Shorts and a t-shirt vs. jeans or pants and a button down, he would pick shorts and a t-shirt...because it's more comfortable. If he wanted to be lazy and comfortable then he wouldn't go to work, he's stay in his PJ's all day and he wouldn't brush his teeth. Chill out for a minute or two, alright?
And to ggraves below...my husband doesn't dress like that to make a fashion statement. He dresses like that because of comfort and that's just his personal style he likes.

Seems like it would be a full time job impressing you.
Theres nothing wrong with wearing shorts to the mall or out to eat. It depends on the circumstances and the restaurant. If you're out on an evening date then yes you should dress up a bit more. If you're shopping its about being comfortable and most people do stop for a bite to eat while shopping.
Quit looking under the table if hair bothers you.

Maybe you should relax a little. Maybe some people look at your tidy, perfectly ironed outfit and think, "Dang! That girl needs to get a life!". Sometimes people have days when they don't really feel like putting on their good clothes. They just want to be comfortable and could give a rats patootie about what uptight people think about their clothes. Besides the mall is not generally considered to be a high class eatery. If you want to see men in suits while you dine perhaps you should go to an upscale restaurant.

It's a matter of respect. Some people don't have any respect in themselves or for others. Also, they haven't been taught what is appropriate for different situations.
However, to just walk around the mall, I don't think there is anything wrong with shorts, as long as they are clean and in good condition.

Basically, some people aren't obsessed by fashion. Also, if it's summer and hot, t-shirts and shorts are the way to go, in my opinion. Lots of people do it. It doesn't have to look bad.

Some women like our hairy legs. True, being the great guys we are, we do try to please all women. But, when it comes to how we dress, we do fail to cater to every woman's needs. :-p
