also, i usually hear about women becoming really sick and throwing up and such during 'morning' sickness. can it be just light nausea that comes and goes quickly or is it always more serious?

Yes, to that previous answer."Morning" sickness is really a misleading term. It can occur any time of day and it depends on the woman. Some get very mild cases that don't last thru the 1st trimester. In my 1st pregnancy, I was fine until the 2nd trimester...and then my "morning" sickness lasted for the rest of the pregnancy! During my 3rd pregnancy (I miscarried my 2nd), I had an almost identical experience to my 1st one.

Don't get up from a sitting or lying-down position too quickly. Crackers and ginger ale, or dry toast, may help. Don't wear clothes that are too tight around your abdomen.

It is all worth it in the end, 'tho!!

Morning sickness is very misleading. I had morning sickness in the morning...and mid-day...and at night. It was awful! I experienced morning sickness around 7 weeks along and throughout the rest of my pregnancy. But it doesn't matter what time of day it is...it just happens when it wants to happen.

As for how severe it is...it really depends on each case. Mine was AWFUL! But I know people who had a light touch of it and would just feel crappy all day. I think, sometimes, I had the better end of the deal. I would get sick and violently vomit and it'd be over with. The other people would get sick feeling and stay that way all day...but then agian, mine lasted the whole pregnancy. So it just depends on the person.

They are right, it can come at any time. Typically only lasts through the first semester. I worked with a lady whose daughter threw up from conception to delivery! Ugh, thankfully that is not the norm.
I only had real morning sickness with my last baby. As soon as my feet hit the shower I was getting sick. Just nauseous with the first 2. All 3 were boys. Every pregnancy and every person has different stories!!
Good Luck

Yes...the term morning sickness is very misleading. I actually get sicker at night when I am at home than during the morning and day when I am work.

Helpful hint....eat small meals or snacks throughout the day. They help keep your blood sugar level balanced. If you eat a large meal...especially at night, it tends to make you feel overly full causing you to throw up before you go to bed. I like to snack on grapes and vanilla wafers during the day.

I started experiencing morning sickness almost immediately after i found out i was pregnant..I actually had morning sickness until i had my oldest daughter. With my baby I never had one day of morning sickness...if it gets really bad try sipping on water and eating crackers. Don't let your stomach get completely empty because it then gets 100 times worse then when you started!!

it differs for each person but it can happen at any time of day or night, and if you are going to suffer with it then you will usually start by week 8. i was fortunate and only suffered for a few weeks but most can carry on right through most of your pregnancy. it usually eases after 5 or 6 weeks though.

Yes, it can happen any time of the day. Once I was in the bank drive-through, in the middle of the afternoon, & I had to open my car door & throw up right there. There was no way to stop it. I was so embarrassed, I just shut the door & drove away.
