The word itself stems from "emotive hardcore," which is a niche genre of music that came about some time in the 1990s. "Emo" can refer to this type of music or the subculture of kids who listen to certain bands whose style and sound derived from emotive hardcore music. Convoluted associations, misconceptions and incorrect usage have brought us to the present state where it may also refer to kids who are in touch with their "emotions." ...Which is to say kids who live a life of relative privilege, but find imperfections in their lives from which they draw justification for their whininess.

It's ballooned to mean much more than it did when the term first hit the scene. Originally it described a musical genre. Music is very emotional, emotive- it's more about provoking deeper emotions from the listener. Emo gradually came to describe the listeners and their style of choice. You've seen them very modish hipster types, I call them sophistopunks. Anyway they wear a lot of black and angular haircuts and vans are ever-present. I heard recently that some emo kids have turned it into a philosophy or lifestyle of living by your emotions and not letting logic guide your decisions. Either way I think emo kids are hot!!!

LOL I needed to snigger due to the fact that question was once requested on hollyoaks the opposite day and good the person Lauren couldnt provide an explanation for it both. How do you provide an explanation for a idea that it's only founded on phrase of mouth, tune and style? You label it emo, put on the equal garments and all concentrate to the equal bands and reduce your wrists it appears. Of you concentrate to The Used they use terminology approximately wrist reducing sarcastically. You've noticeable the developments and ordinarily heard of My Chemical Romance and Funeral For a Friend. But it is daft in the event you you fairly desire to be anything due to the fact you are no longer being actual to your self in the event you be "emo". Be an person, concentrate to all tune sure even classical lol (film soundtracks e.g superstar wars continues to be classical!). And yeah simply put on what you prefer. People will recognize you extra for no longer attempting too difficult to slot in.

Emo is the term used for "emotional rock" music and the people that listen to it. The music is a lot of "my girl/boyfriend died/ dumped me, I'm so alone, life is unbearable, I'm so filled with angst" etc. The people usually wear a lot of band tees, black, piercings, and tight pants, and have over-styled hair. Kind of like a cross between goth and glam.
