I think they should watch some vintage Hippie films, like "Easy Rider", "Woodstock" and The Monterey Festival (w/Hendrix!)...among others.
Or, how about some modern interpretations, like "The Doors", or "Flashback" (w/Dennis Hopper & Kiefer Sutherland). That way, they'd see that Hippies are NOT evil, but good, however stoned, unwashed or naked they may be! Got any film/music/book recommendations?

Okay...not that I'm down on weed (it's the LEAST harmful drug)...but I really wanted some IMAGES of what it was like back then (weed and all!), to show people filled w/hate for Hippies (like, on this site!), what we're REALLY all about. It's not all about drugs...but other stuff, like nature. I liked the post regarding dipping in a clear stream! Good times...!

The majority of hippies ARE associated with smokin' the reefer. You gotta blaze up to be a hippie, at least that's how the movies DO portray them. You CAN be a productive member of society smokin' rope and bein' a hippie. Just not AS productive if you weren't killin' all those brain cells. Believe me I know!!!
I can't think of any movie that doesn't portray hippies as dope smokers and that says alot. I don't know anyone who hates hippies, never looked at it that way. Just bad vibes to be stoned all the time. But the image of braincell killin' sofa surfers is imbedded in the minds of millions and that is probably not going to change! Good luck and peace out, man!

Not all hippies were unwashed. Many found it quite enjoyable to experience a morning bath in the cold creeks. *smiles* It will definitely wake you up.
