Ah honey don't be scared. It's a perfectly normal bodily function. Usually they last around 5 to 7 days but it depends on the person. You should have one around every 28 days but again, not everybody is the same and in the early years they can be irregular. How often to change your pads is as often as you feel you need to. It depends on how heavy it is and the type of pad you are using. It's wise to keep a few spares with you at all times. When you feel it's a bit uncomfortable or damp or needs changing, change it.

Don't worry, it happens to all women, don't be embarrassed about talking to any adult woman you are close to if you have any concerns, she's bound to have been through it to so she'll understand.

Have a happy christmas, and congratulations on taking the first step to becoming a woman.

Moms? Any of us girls can answer this for you. Tell your mother that you started. Change your pad at least every 3 hours--depending on how heavy you are bleeding. You may need to change it more often. Your period will last anywhere from 3-7 days. And don't worry. The first year of your periods will probably be unpredictable. You may start early, late, stop and start, etc. Everyone goes through it. I started mine when I was 9. Yes, it was scary. But my mom was really good about helping me and explaining things. She wasn't expecting me to start so early. I'm 41 now and believe me...I am ready for this to STOP! LOLOL

I would have thought your mom would have prepared you for this. You poor thing, it should last about six days. Change your pad as often as you like but don't wait more than six hours between changes. Your first period is always very heavy so don't be alarmed at the amount of blood. This should be a momentous time for you so try to embrace it rather than fear it. You are now one of the women of this world. You are vastly superior to any man because now you can create life. Good Luck.

It can last 3- 7 days normally. When your pad feels full change it. Every few hours if you are bleeding heavy.

it usually looks like more than it is. If you are soaking a pad every 30 minutes then your need to go to the dr.
