Americans are very myopic, although they now know more than they ever wanted to know about middle east conflicts. As far as Australia's politics go, many Americans saw a shot of the prime minister when he attended Steve Irwin's funeral. Australia has a prime minister, right?

Australian politics is currentlyy a regional issue, maybe New Zealand and Indonesia care at this time.

Australia's time has not come yet. It may come, depending how they carry themselves.
