If you started taking your pills during your period, then you will be protected after taking seven active pills in a row. If you started after you finished your period, you won't be protected until after your next period - you might have ovulated already, and have to wait until you shed the egg in your next period.

I have been told two complete cycles. However, this a question best left for your gynocologist who subscribed the pills. Give him/her a call and ask. They get these kinds of questions all the time. Obviously the know your having sex because you got on the birth control, so don't be shy/ashamed to call them. You pay them good money for their advice and assistance.
Hope this helps and good luck!

according to the pamphlet that comes with my yasmine mines says that it becomes completely effective the 3rd cycle which would be the third month of the pill... everyone has their own therory but i would highly recommend reading the pamphlet that comes with ur particular birth control.. though if ur having sex with multiple partners i would still highly recommend using condoms just to protect urself from stds... but if ur in a committed relationship i would suggest waiting till the end of the third packet just to be on the safe side

even birth control pills are not 100% guaranteed to prevent pregnancy. Each time you have sex you have the potential to create new life.
