During the face offs in ice hockey, sometimes the ref makes the team change the player who is taking the face off. The only reason I can think of this is because he has tried to take the puck before the ref has dropped it. Am I right or is there a totally different reason?

The first two responses were correct. Another reason for ejecting a team's center is if another player from his team encroaches the face-off circle prior to dropping the puck. That is the reason probably 60-70% of the time, the other is for not being set or moving the stick prior to the drop of the puck (as stated).

Your right, but another reason that no one has mentioned is if your wingers start slapping or hitting sticks with the other teams winger. They make you change like 90% of the time if they see your wingers doing that

Ya thats right...they can both get thrown out at the same time too. and if your team gets thrown out twice in one face off its an automatic penalty. not sure if u knew that or not but it could be helpful!

They do that so one team won't jump and make the other team move his stick and lose the face off.

You are right but also if one of the centermen gets to the faceoff circle late the ref can send him out of the faceoff circle.

there are some options you should use contained in the face off circle that could actually help you get an more desirable triumphing percentage. potential is significant, besides as sturdy hand position, and quick reflexes coupled with sturdy hand/eye coordination. you in many cases are required to have your stick on the ice to commence off with. both gamers could be coated up real on the hash marks. in case you cheat, and attempt to flow earlier the drop, you may get tossed. also yet otherwise to get tossed is that if one among your different gamers jumps into the circle, or offside, you get the boot. Get as low to the ice as feasible. this can advance your leverage. Stand inclusive of your feet huge, and your knees bent. carry the stick plenty decrease down on the shaft with both fingers. again, this can advance leverage. i opt for to opposite my bottom hand for extra grip on the stick. Watch the linesman's hand, as he begins to drop the %., right away thrust your stick in the back of your opponent's stick and drag your stick decrease back merely because the %. hits the ice. Your stick will flow less than theirs, and also you may pull the %. instantly decrease back on your D-guy. i love that flow the perfect. There are different ideas, too. Stand contained in the necessary waiting position, and again, watch the linesman's hand. at the same time as he drops the %., you truly take a slapshot at it. tell your winger to interrupt to that part, and in case you win it, it is going to flow precise to the breaking winger. i am going to't do this one besides, so in effortless words use it sparingly. to respond to your question about throwing your skate in there, convinced you may. it extremely is yet another sturdy approach. at the same time as the linesman begins to drop the %., right away turn your entire body around the face off dot kicking thier stick out of ways. this can positioned your opponent in the back of you, and attempt to be staring down on the %. to do what you opt for with it. i exploit that flow on social gathering, yet i'm a large guy, so that is difficult for me to flow that right away, so if you're smaller, and quick that way works rather sturdy. sturdy success to you! Steve.

besides the obvious, he can also be replaced for not having his stick on the ice. Home team must always have stick on ice before drop. Also for violations such as jousting with opponent and refusal to enter the circle
