I don't think you can get him to let you skip the exam. He is probably not allowed to do that. If you skip it anyway, you will most likely have to make it up another time or accept a zero on the exam. It is reasonable for you to ask to write the exam early or to do some major assignment instead of the exam. It is not reasonable for you to expect him to let you skip it.

Skipping? Not a prayer. At best you can ask if you can take the exam early, due to conflicting travel arrangements. You will need a note from your parents or other proof of conflict (like plane tickets). To ensure the integrity of the exam, ask if you can take it LAST THING on Tuesday, or after school.
However, seeing as today is Tuesday, you should have prepared for this by asking your teacher several weeks ago, when the exam date was announced and you found out about the conflict.

In most high schools the exam is mandatory and part of the grade. Unless your school offers exam exemptions for good grades, and you have those good grades, there is not much you can do. If you do not take the exam your grade will certainly fall. You might be able to get an extension.

Rarely would I answer something like this. Seeing though that in this day and age a sophomore in High School prefers skipping an exam because they do not wish to take it I find as appalling. I would have loved to be allowed to take chemistry when I was in H.S. I could not because I was lousy in Geometry a requirement. If you don't want to be in chemistry ask for another elective. You are wasting your classes time, teacher's time and your time. Or be like the adult you are to become one day...study and take the exam before your trip.

When I was in high school we had to fill out an excussed absance for for the classes we were going to miss, why we were going to miss it, have every single teacher we had sign it along with our parents and your signiture. We then had to turn it in to the attendence office and guess what it was excussed and whatever we missed that day the teachers had to let us make up. Every single school here in michigan has that does yours? if so then that is what you need to do
