I am thinking about getting the Mirena IUD. I have tried BC Pills and can never remember to take them. I did the Depo Shot and that messed me up, bleed most of the time while being on it. I have 2 kids and don't want anymore. Im not looking into tying my tubes either.

I was wondering if any of you have used or are using the Mirena IUD, how is your experience with it? Are you very hormonal? How much do you bleed with it? Any dramatic changes with your body since you've been on it? Also does anyone know how long it has been on the market?

I have had the Mirena IUD for about 2 years now and i love it. it was painless to put in and you basically can forget about it. you dont have to worry about remembering anything. every once in a while you have to check and make sure you can still feel the little string but thats about it. and after about a month and a half my periods completely stopped. no spotting or anything. the only thing you have to remember is that the mirena has to be replace after 5 years. but thats it

IUD's them selves have been around since the 1800's
Mirena I believe has been around since maybe 2001 or 2002.

I have an issue where I cannot take an overload of Hormones and out of all the bc Ive used the Mirena has made me the least hormonal and the pill of course. I used to have 8-10 day heavy painful periods and now I haven't had a period since 2002. NO drastic changes in my body since Ive been on it.Mirena has the lowest pregnancy rate than even tubal ligation. This is another reason why I choose it. I have 2 children and honestly don't think I want another one however If I change my mind I want that option and with tubal ligation reverse is difficult

I have the Mirena and love it. Not hormonal at all. I used to suffer from really bad PMS and heavy periods. Now I don't have anymore PMS and just spotting off and on. I didn't have any pain getting it inserted. My body hasn't changed at all. I don't even know the IUD is there.

good luck with your choice!!

i've got had the Mirena for a twelve months without section consequences. observed for awhile yet have not had a era in any respect. no longer something such as you're dealing with with thoughts, zits and so on, hate to pay attention that. I seen the copper iud before because of the fact I loved the belief of no hormones. My Dr. advised me that it does make the sessions heavier and the cramps extra severe. you basically could desire to weigh the pros and cons of each and every technique you're pondering & bear in suggestions that our bodies all react to diverse procedures in diverse techniques so possibly that's well worth a attempt. basically communicate on your ob/gyn and notice if she/he delivers a time-physique, say 3 extra months and if no exchange, then attempt the copper.
