I am not sure what you mean by prepared but here is my suggestion.
Scout places like Wal-Mart and grocery stores check people out and let your heart guide you as to who to give them too.
I think doing this is awesome because it adds a little personal touch to what you are doing. And by doing this you not only have given something tangiable as a gift but you have created a wonderful memory for that person. Its a wonderful feeling to feel selected out a of a crowd because someone thought you needed a pick me up.
Many years ago a lady did this to me in Furrs grocery store. Just came up to me and handed me 20 bucks and said "Merry Christmas...thought you could use this"
And boy could we use it...we were really hard pressed for cash.
It was an awesome feeling to know that that lady sensed in her heart what I was going through and she took the time to do her special thing to lift my spirits. No 20 bucks doesnt buy a whole lot but the gesture changed me.
So when I finished school and we were doing well finacially I tried this out on carhop at Sonic. I just felt as if I had to. I handed her a 50 dollar tip and told her "thought you could use this...but if you cant could you pass it on to someone who could" The carhops expression told me I did the right thing and she told me she prayed she would make good tips that day cause she had to pay off her electric bill.
Anyway thats my thought...it takes a little extra work on your end but its odd that through whatever connection thats out there (God or some cosmic force...whatever you believe in) will lead you to the right people.

If it is a toy drive, just drop off the UNwrapped toys in the box, it's that easy.

Call your local Catholic church. They have many agencies depending on them. Pregnancy Aid, The St. Vincent de Paul society, etc...
