She said it was too much and England was more moderate in the size and display in their stores. I didn't dare take her to our bigger malls. Then when I visited Northamptonshire, I found supermarkets just as big and, of all things, shopping malls just like ours. Do other Europeans have negative views of US stores? If so, why?

Hmm.

I've "done" Tyson's Corner" in Va and I've "done" the Menlyn Centre in Pretoria, South Africa to mention two of the "biggies."

I don't think that UK suermarkets are particularly small or that the larger shopping centres are much different from US ones.

There are good things and bad things about US stores and about stores everywhere..

Generally speaking US stores are very good in terms of thej range of goods available and the prices charged. Relatively poor when it comes to much finesse in the design of virutally any of the goods available.

No. I have negative views on lots of things in the US but your 'stores' are not an issue. Supermarkets and shopping centres ('malls') and generally the same. Hey, they even have all the same shops in them (Starbucks truly has taken over the world).

well, she was probably responding more to the big people in the big food stores if you catch my drift here.
