I don't think its meant to be funny.
Honestly, some of the wack-jobs, vegans and animal rights activists would very likely embrace the bug-loving philosophy.
Here in the Real World we know about the connections between insects and human diseases. Homes with roach infestation are more likely to have kids with asthma, for example. And how about the connecton between West Nile Virus and mosquitoes?

I don't know if it is hilarious, but unbelievable, yes. How far will some ecologist go....Saving mosquitoes? No way. Make a spider from the house a pet, how crazy is that......I didn't know such sites were there, thanks for the information.............
