He will be top 5 when he is done....Everyone has their own arguments as to who the greatest is. I dont think its Jim Brown because when he played he was on of the biggest guys in the league. The players were smaller and slower back then so its hard to compare. You need to go by era's. And what about BARRY SANDERS?

Obviously it's too early for the ALL TIME talk, although I agree he's definitely the best today and will probably be among the top 3-4 by the time he's done (maybe even #1, but that remains to be seen)

There are many running backs who were equally dominant for 4-5 years then dropped from radar due to injury/retirement. Marshall Faulk, Priest Holmes, Eric Dickerson, Terrell Davis, Bo Jackson, Earl Campbell...

Then we have the gridiron legends who were so consistently great for so many years- Tony Dorsett, OJ Simpson, Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Marcus Allen (who know what his numbers could have been)

Barry Sanders and Gayle Sayers- almost belong in a category by themselves, equally amazing but from two different eras. But the main man, the most dominant by far was Jim Brown.

So LT has a ways to go to surpass the all-time greats...

The thing that makes Tomlinson so good, is that the Defense knows they will give the ball to him and he still cant be stopped. He has put up crazy numbers the last few years, and he's a great all around back. Emmit played with guys like Irvin and Aikman. Payton had McMahon and a great D. Tomlinson has... he has... ummm, I really couldn't name another player on that team that I would deam an "elite" player in the league.

I'm not saying he is the best, but you can definately say he is one of the bests

LT is one of the best of all times -yes! Barry Sanders may have been the best runner of all-time with W. Payton right behind him; too young to see Jim Brown play, but in his day he was by far the best to ever play the position; M. Faulk is a great one too - could run and catch. E. Smith had a great line and other weapons on his team that had to be respected. With that all said as an all around RB LT may be the best he can block, run, catch and throw the ball. This is one of the great debates, unless all these guys were on the same team at the same time taking turns in the backfield you can never know.

first off...Emmit Smith was OK..the only reason he was good was because he had a HELL OF AN OFFENSIVE LINE..i could have ran for that many yards behind that beast of a line.

secondly Payton is the greatest and shall forver remain so.

Yea, Tomlinson has 30+ td's this season, whippdeedoo....the TD record has been broken 4 times in the past 10 years. 20 td's in a season is normal now a days just because it's the way the game has changed.

The greatest of all time is Barry Sanders and no one has come close to him yet. He accomplished more with less his whole career. Barry never had a decent team around him but every year he would amaze the doubters. LT needs to go to the Cardinals or the Texans or the Lions and see if he can do the same. I highly doubt it. It will take a lot to convince me a RB these days is better then Barry Sanders.

I believe it is to early to say that. He is the best right now but you have to see how things pan out. And people keep saying that there is nobody else on that team. Phillip Rivers is a nice QB and Gates is probably the best TE in the game. LT's line had done a good joba as well. Ask Mark Mcneil his rookie tackle. I think if he keeps this up and breaks every record including the single season record and wins a super bowl they wont have any choice but to say that he is.

Tomlinson is friggin great. I mean I haven't seen a player with his skills in a long time. I think he is the reason for the Chargers being where they are right now.

What about Jim Brown!

That's not saying that I don't love watching this young man run like a deer. I'm just stating the obvious.
