Really, this is just like a search engine...you type in what you want to know and you get results, and usually very good ones. Plus, I have asked quite a few questions on here that I could not find anything about with a search engine and got answers because people had personal experience. That's another thing, you might find what you want, but what if something doesn't work. There's a very good chance that someone will answer your question that has actually had experience with the problem you are having...then they can tell you exactly how they fixed it. I'm sure that some people are just lazy and don't want to go searching themselves...that's fine, more points for me :-)

Human interaction.

Whether a novice to the web or a veteran user, many of us get a positive feeling of direct contact & interaction with other people from using this forum.

It's like reading reviews from people before buying a product. You get to look at & compare what may well be the most honest opinions.

No ads ... no false links, and for the most part : no alterior motives .

a lot of times questions are hard to search in google because you receive too many hits, or you just don't know the answer to search for. Yahoo is awesome because it gives you the information fast, and many questions are personal experiences or dilemma's where you can't find the answers elsewhere.

Funny but I often thought the same thing myself. Right now I have a question pending here about a web design problem and no one has answered.

I guess it is just fun to see who might answer. To answer seems more fun than asking questions (to me) and to move up the point / level schedule.

I like this better because even though I may not get detailed answers I get specific answers straight from people who been there, done it and got the t-shirt. After that I get more in depth answers and input with better guidance.

Thats why!

because it is a form of communication. Not only that but people may already have links to web sites of great importance that others are looking for.

Because Google does not know everything...

Nor do the people here for that matter...

I have some questions which remain unanswered...

What's the matter with you people?

...because of the challenge of asking questions and triggering people to answer the questions - being able to interact with the world at large and being able to take a shot at contributing in a small way to answer other people's questions...
