Do not explain it, and it there are sites out there, don't give them out. You want to feel superior to others for having an outstanding knowledge of football. If somebody asks about football, explain it in a way that complicates it. Therefore when the person is like "What?" and you can laugh and act like they are retarded. It is the best way to gain that person's respect.

A quarterback sack occurs when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before he can throw a forward pass. This can happen if 1) the opposing team's defensive line or linebackers are able to quickly get past blocking players of the offensive team who protect the quarterback; or 2) if the quarterback cannot locate, in a reasonable period of time, an available receiver who can catch the ball. The longer the quarterback takes to "launch" the football, the more time the defense has to tackle the quarterback--often behind the line of scrimmage. Perhaps you could purchase the uninformed a copy of Football for Dummies, Second Edition (Paperback) by Howie Long and John Czarnecki.

When a person from the opposing team tackles the quarterback to the ground and when the person with the ball hit the ground that's a sack. First explain to the person who the quarterback is...do that before anything. Good Luck!

To dumb it down I'd say: when the first guy with the ball gets tackled behind the the marker on the side of the field.
