It was probably good while you had it but now Australia have taken it back after their generous loan period f just over 400 days (the least amount of time anyone has ever held the Ashes in its history!). England played well last year but they could not continue since then. Australia are a hungry and determined side who have now won 15 of the last 16 tests since last years ashes. England don't take any other cricketing country seriously other than Australia. For Australia every game is important. They prepare very hard and long. Contrast that with the English who think they can adapt to the conditions with 1 or 2 warm up games. The best batsmen in the England team (Kevein Peitertsen) is not even English! The best bowler (Monty) was not even picked in the first two tests. The facts speak for themselves. The man Warne is 1 away from a remarkable 700 wickets. Ponting is closing in on the most test centuries and Austrailia are the World, ICC trophy and now Ashes champions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Typical arrogant Oz.Your team will soon be on the decline, due to age.McGrath and Warne both late 30sPonting as a captain useless tactican. No mention of Symonds being born in England. We lost due to bad preperation More games should have been played before the 1st Test.Team selection for the touring party so bad.Fletcher must be replaced.O.K YOU WON THE ASHES BACK CONGRATULATIONS.Why was the ground so empty on the last day?The Ozzies here only watched the game when you seemed likely to win. Most of them drunk so didnt watch the game.

It's only on loan NOW, it will return next time as all the current aussies will be drawing pensions, and as for KP not being English I think you'll find he is, but like the Americans, Aussies don't like history as they always end up here in good old blighty.

Much as I hate to burst your bubble, the Ashes are coming back to England - the trophy is permanently held at the MCC, regardless of any foreign claims to soveriegnty over them.

KP is english - he was brought up in South Africa - you may just as well say that Monty isn't english - he's Indian, Or that Fred isn't english - he's a cartoon character.

Well well well --- isn't it a different story now the boot's on the other foot ???? How long did the ''ASHES COME HOME" headlines last in the UK papers ? Not to mention the gloating blogs that went on for months afterwards ..... There's still a good deal to swallow i'd say ----- Keep a stiff upper lip old chaps !!!

I tend to agree with most of your comments, but don't start going on about players and their country of origin. I seem to remember Kepler Wessels playing for Austrailia because they could not find a decent opener at the time.

P.S. He was South African incase you didn't know!!!!

oh my god that is the funniest thing I've ever read - u are a sad b*stard and your country is obsessed by sport but only good at 2 - Cricket and girls swimming
I'm sorry but you still live in a backwardly cultured country.
But if it keeps the colonies happy then let there be a whitewash - we still rule you!

I fully agree with your views. While the current Australian Team is top of the world. one wonders whether they will be able to hold on to this position once aged players like Warne, Mf Grath, Ponting etc. retires.
