I got my boyfriend these REALLY expensive pair of sunglasses. I know he will love them! Its something he was looking for and wants. But I had to put it on my credit card and I want to give them to him but after thinking about it Im affraid I should take them back and just buy what I can afford. What do you guys think? Would this action be mean or rude? Thank you!

Absolutely Not, You should take them back and buy only what you can afford. You shouldn't be in debt to please him and he should understand, if you would prefer to give him a gift certificate in cash and tell him he could put that towards the glasses that would be nice, but If you don't feel like that's the right way to go about this then but the glasses you can afford.. Either way he should understand , if he doesn't then.. Take a second look at him.. You will have a long long road ahead of you .. Hopefully debt free.. Good Luck to you and Merry Christmas

I say buy what you can afford - If he loves you he won't care. By putting them on your credit card you must realize that unless you pay it off in one lump sum you will end up paying a lot more for the sunglasses are worth. You could concievable be paying for them after the boyfriend is long gone.

Take them back and buy what you can afford. It is the spirit or your true heart that counts. Buying gifts one cannot afford is a path to bankruptcy.

It isn't rude. I think it is smart of you to give a gift you can afford, rather than a gift that is putting you in debt.

If you aren't comfortable with spending that amount, then I would say take them back and get something less expensive.

I might have. I always feel bad if my gift was not a 'good gift'.
