Actually it depends on who its from with me, if its from someone I really don't know, like co-workers I rather get a gift card, but if its from a friend or family member I rather get a present that they spent a good amount of time looking for. Its the thought that counts with me.

A gift card to my favorite store. Its not that i wouldnt be just as happy with a present that someone even took the time to find for me, i would find that really sweet and thoughtful, but honestly, the reason i would pick the gift card over that is cuz i just want anyone to bother going through all that trouble just to get me a present.

Really it depends on who's buying the gift. Some people have a "gift" of picking the right kind of gifts. Then some people give some lousy gifts - it's like they probably wouldn't even use the gift themselves! For those people a gift card is the best and only thing they should give!

the present, how easy is it for someone to give you a gift card it takes two minutes to go in the shop and buy one, you might aswell just have the money. where as presents someone has at least took the time to look around and find something that they think you would like, i hate when people take presents back because they don't like them and swap them for something else, how insensitive. its supposed to be the thought that counts an all that crap. lol. have a great xmas xxxxxxxx

I agree with Kricket. Someone I don't know that well go with a gift card. Family member the gift. The thought is what counts anyway, even if it is not the ideal gift!

The sentiment behind a gift is so lovely, but if the present is not something you would ever use it just goes to show the person does not know you all that well. I'd rather have the voucher.

I prefer the gift. It is more personal and the thought counts. A gift card is something you get someone when you just don't want to be bothered or you don't have the time. It's like getting a kid a toy just to shut him up.
Just my thought. Take care.

I'll take the gift, even if I don't like it. There is more than the gift there. It took time and (sometimes) thought. LOL !
