would it be anything to do with the 'stability' of the connection?? it seems to cut out after pretty much the same time each time? a setting that makes it change the connection every now and then so it doesnt get hacked??

this is the kind of thing i guess it might be (think iv read about this sort of thing in the past) but as im nowhere near being an expert i need to know pretty much exactly what i'd need to do/change

thanks again

happy xmas all!!

I would first make sure that you have a strong signal to the XBox. I had that problem in my house and I moved it up a bit. Second go into the administration of the XBOX and insure that you have it set to automatically get the DNS and IP address. Also make sure that the router is set to either give the DNS and DHCP address out. Easy to configure for the Belikin.
After that I would restart them both to make sure that the setting held. After that you should be good to go. Cheers

Auto Detect DNS,DHCP from the server, Auto Detect IP, like that other one said. Misconfigured network settings on or through a router are the most likely reasons for any loss of signal on a hard wired system.
