Don't bother installing yet another program that will take up your pc's resources, just right click on My Network Places on your desktop and then left click properties. Right click the network that is used for your internet access and disable it. Job done!
Just reverse the process to reconnect it. I use this method, and have found no better solution, other than using valuable resources running a firewall with the lockdown feature.

If you're on a router - you can password protect your router - check the knowledge base of the router on the makers website.
