He should be fine, do not worry.

The immediate concern would be chocking, like if we swallowed a mouthful of porridge oats.

This has obviously not happened, so all will be OK.

A good lesson however, infants will grab the nearest thing, and put it in their mouth.

I hope everything is OK with you. May I say, when I was a child, some fifty years ago, I was sat in front of the fire, and decided to eat coal out of the coal bucket.
This was something I can not remember, but my mother often told the story.

As a scientist, it is a know fact that infants instinctively put things in their mouth, to see if it is good to eat.

Hope this answer helps to assure you, and may give a warning for things that might still be to come.

This is why medicines and cleaning products should be kept away from the reach of young children. However, where teabags would rate on this list, you may have a first.

Good luck, and take care.

He will be fine. May notice a prety gross diaper, but not harmful. In alot of asian cooking tea leaves are used as spices. Tea is just a plant leaf not really any different than eating basil or oragano type stuff. We all worry over stuff it's okay. Find your local number to poison control and keep it on hand trust me you will need it. The people on that hot line are great one time my kid ate tooth paste and I was worried about the flouiride hurting him they said it was fine and actually called back later to check on us. He's fine. He's just getting more fiber than usual. Anything you would brew (extract flavor from with hot water) is, in theory, safe to eat in the sense that it is not toxic. However, tea is somewhat acidic so I would recommend giving him some formula or milk if he's old enough because it could give him indigestion.

Babies are the silliest things aren't they?

If there's one lesson you should have learned from the answers you've received it's this:....
Don't use the internet to ask about potentially dangerous things to your baby. Call poison control. They can help you immediately with EXPERT advice and not just opinions.

Even if it's questionable, call them, not us. They know by brand name what things are minor and what things are major. They would have been able to tell you the exact extra liquid to help your baby. Call them now. It's not too late.

Should not do him any harm -but if you were that worried why are you asking the question on the internet instead of phoning your health visitor or doctor?

He probably didn't really eat it, just put it in his mouth to check it out as an exploration. It's bitter, I can't imagine he wanted to swallow it! He'll be fine.

Uhm, if you would think rationally you would know that if babies can drink tea - which they can - eating tea will not hurt them. Don;t worry about it.

I am not sure about ingesting the tea leaves themselves.
Personally, I wouldn't be asking on here. I'd be calling poison control or your pediatrician instead!!!!!!!!!
