Attach one computer to another via LAN cable only?

Hey I have a problem I wanna set up a fast LAN network on the go but don't have a router available for it. Would connecting one laptop to another via LAN cable work at all?

Yes , use cross over cable and connect to each laptop or computer in Rj 45 port. Ask for CAT5 cross over cable in network or hardware parts shops.

You'll have to use a crossover cable, but you can connect the 2 computers together.

The cross over cable is the way to go. You can make your own or buy one from your local nerd shop.
