I'm on about people who hate ''grasses'' - others who give info to the police about a crime they have witnessed or can help solve. What problem do these fools have with people who have morals and a conscience?!

Stacky: Good question. It's something that I have heard all my life, from people who I considered to be perfectly sensible, law-abiding citizens. I just don't understand why.

Yep - the vast majority of these people (that I've known) would scream blue murder if one of ''their'' people was the victim.

I know a girl who was nearly raped who didn't report it because she didn't like 'grasses'. I know her well enough to be certain that she wasn't just using that as a reason to avoid the trauma of reporting the crime. She didn't know the guy... the whole thing is beyond me!

Who says they hate grasses, other than the criminals commiting the crimes?

I suppose its because they would not like to be grassed up themselves, but these people are usually narrow minded because as soon as a crime is committed towards them they are the first ones to scream victim, its amazing how many people develop morals and consciences when they have been wronged

It is a silly thing criminals use on the weak to stop them being witness to crime. A bit like bullying really. (If you tell the teacher I will get you syndrome) It does not apply to the average moral person in this country. I would have no hesitation in giving evidence, in fact I would love to come face to face with someone threatening me with violence or giving me a hard time because I reported them for a crime.

it puzzles most law abiding British citizens and makes one wonder if these people are not living in another world or their brain does not register more crime the more uncomfortable everyday life becomes

in my profesional experience of dealing with such people that say i would never grass believe me it is an urban myth as they all like telling stories about others from the lowest criminal to the higher up in the criminal food chain

Its a criminal bond kind of thing - its only those who do wrong themselves that dont like the 'grasses'. Its where the saying originated 'As thick as thieves' xxxxx
