I try hard not to shop Walmart but they have layaway plan except your in their NO NEW LAYAWAYS til January. I thought I read an article though that management was considering stopping all layaways permanently due to high cost for them... can't find it. Target doesn't do layaways, if you have a Goody's clothing store... they do layaways but charge fees for it. Kmart does layaways but charges fees to do it.
Honestly many retailers from now til the New Year will not accept new layaways cause they don't want to get stuck with winter merchandise. Besides in Jan/Feb they bring out Spring wardrobe to entice u to buy.

Wal-Mart discontinued their layaway completely not too long ago. Reason being that they were losing quite a bit of money. Say I put a $1200 T.V. on layway. 2 months later, they put them as a 'roll back' or put them as a feature item & lowered the price to like $600. I could then go in & buy the T.V. for $600. So they basically held a T.V. for me for 2 months & lost $600 (if I'd purchased it initally). Not the smartest idea when you're trying to make money.
