I wouldnt have even invaded Iraq in the first place but if I did...I'd send my men and women home. We're caught up between a civil war in that country and they need to get it together if they wish to progress.

I build a strong infrastructure to the Iraqi military keeping the odds of a military coupe at a minimum. As I pull the United States military out of Iraq I allow the 300,000 man Iraqi army to decimate the Al-sadir militia strongholds. The Sunni militia would be next if even necessary. Unfortunately tens of thousands of lives would be lost in the conflict. Though to stabilize the region it is a necessary step. American personnel would be involved only in a support capacity lest we be labeled the new butchers of Baghdad.

This inevitable confrontation hasn't happened only so that the Iraqi government can truly take credit and responsibility for such an endeavor. Almost as if Saddam was still there yet it will be the same enemy he had extremist Shiites. The Sunni minority that used to be in power will assimilate.

Seize Total Contol of the Country, Export their oil to the US so we can all fill up our SUV's for 37 cents per gallon, sell the rest off and use the money to satisfy our national debt. Stop all foreign aid to third world countries until there was not ONE homeless American, not ONE American child going hungry, Not ONE American Senior Citizen having to decide whether to eat cat food so they can afford their medications. No Money to ANYONE until every single AMERICAN CITIZEN is taken care of. We have been taking care of the World for far too long and it has gotten us nowhere. If I were President that is only the beginning of what I would do

First of all, I would NOT take a poll to decide what to do. Sniffing the air and then responding based on the emotion of the day is best reserved for political campaigns. We had enough of that crap leading up to the November elections.

Trying to appease and respond to the political posturing of the day is NOT leadership (what we want from our president). And it's certainly not good military strategy.

Before we joined the war against Hitler in Europe, there was tremendous opposition from isolationists here in America. But FDR decided that we had a role to play and he committed our armed forces against an enemy who had neither invaded our country nor declared war on America when we joined the war in Europe in 1942.

Back to Iraq, I would rely heavily on my military commanders to assess how much support we need to provide to Iraqi forces in order to disarm the militias, stop sectarian violence and stabilize their country. And I would not submit to pressure to state an arbitrary deadline for this to happen.

Back at home, I'd move aggressively to promote energy independence. That would include ALL options: conservation, alternative fuels, hybrid, electric and other vehicle power sources, expanding exploration and drilling, and allowing free markets to set prices based on supply and demand.

We need to be free of our dependence on Middle Eastern oil. I'd rather pay $10.00 per gallon for gasoline and ride a bicycle than to further enrich my sworn enemies.

Let them raise money to develop nuclear weapons and launch terrorist jihads by selling figs and dates to one another.

Split Iraq into three parts Kurds in the NE, Sunni's in the north and Shites in the south, then pull the troops out and never interfere in another country's system of government again.

Get all of the good people out of Irak, drop bombs and bombs and when everything is wiped-out, go in and clean up and rebuilt it and bring back all of the good Iraqis and the ones that for one reason or the other had to immigrate will go back.. All of this will be done in less than 2 years. All of this for the Iraqis and the civilized world.

Increase US forces and stop the insurgency from Iran and Syria. This would help quell the sectarian violence also.

Fight to win. Make the enemy afraid to ever pick up arms against us. Show our allies that we are reliable. Make clear to the world that we are great to have as a friend and awful to have as an enemy.

Great question!

I disagree with my own solution. I know what needs to be done but I would need more information to feel better about it.

What I think needs to be done is a massive troop build up to protect the borders, infrastructure and gathering places.
I feel insurgents should be punished according to the Koran (public embarrassment, maiming and death).

What I WANT is to bring our troops back and strengthen our forces in Afghanistan

change the mission from one of war to support. i would have no more than 25,000 troops there rotating out every 6 months rather then 1 year. i would clear out many towns and turn them into "safe compounds" only after investigation would families be allowed to move into them under our protection. all remaining families would be considered enemy combatants and treated as such. after this is done i would consider more troops and a return to war. there would be no rule where you can only fire your weapon when engaged by the enemy first. troops could open fire at will outside the safe compounds.

pull all the troops from the whole middle east then lmao as those animals go into a frenzy of murder and mayhem, wait 6 months and nuke the whole region from the med to Iran.
Iraq, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Israel, all of them one giant fing mirror. Then when the world complained I would knock down the UN building and boot them third world slime out of the USA while quitting the UN forever. Lastly I would trip[le dog dare the world to try something while diverting all welfare money to building more and more nukes.
