I have 3 dogs, 2 cats a bird and a fish....I can honestly say it's all in personal choice. They all have their good points & bad points. If you aren't home a lot, then a dog should be ruled out...they need a LOT of attention.

This is an open question for which you are not going to get a true answer. I have owned/own all three types of pets.

Your answer is going to depend on you and your lifestyle. So instead of giving my opinion, I am going to list some pro's and con's.

Owning ferrets:

Pros- they are cute, fun, full of energy, great personality, very social, can be easy to travel with

Cons- they are VERY high maintenance, VERY expensive, they are prone to a number of medical problems, they should be caged when not supervised, they have to have play time out of their cage every day, even the best litter trained ferret will only hit the litter box 80% of the time, they can not be left for long times (ie vacations or trips), short life span

Owning Cats
Pros- very independent, can be left for short times, can be very social, low cost, cute, playful (mostly at a young age), low mantenance

Cons- don't need their humans as much, care of litter boxes, alot of people are allergic to them,

Owning dogs
Pros- very loyal, social, low cost, low maintenance

Cons- have to go outside, must be kenneled on trips, some have to be locked up when your away or in bed

Well here are some pros and cons. As you see a dog or a cat is easier to take care of, but if your willing to dedicate the time, energy and money a ferret is a very good pet

i have 1 dog, 3 cats, and 1 ferret (had to be left in nevada because they're illegal in california). they're all very nice pets. but i`d say dog. he's ths most affectionate out of all my pets. he's the only one who follows me around everywhere. he gets a bit hyper at times. my cats are affectionate and playful also. it's kind of annoying how stinky their litter box can get. that's my only complaint

Cats are best for me, though I like dogs too. Cats have a lot of personality and can be very loving and devoted pets if they know you really love them.

Honestly I would pick a dog I don't have a good relationship with cats cuz when you move fast they will attack you and it hurts badly.Ferrerts Never been to to close to one exept my aunts and it was really lazy and my aunt didnt see it then she steped on it and died. If you have kids or little brothers and sisters then I would get a dog because their really loyal and if you want a house dog I would pick a poodle I have a poodle named Motica [means small in spanish I didnt name him when we got him that was already his name] He's 11 years old he was a great puppy. My other dog Rottweiler/Sheperd Crazy little thing if you love to play rough with dogs get a Rottweiler/Sheperd hes adorable but he plays way to hard hes 3 months old. hope this helps ♥Melissa♥

It is a toss up....
I have had all of them as pets and each has it's own good points. But I am just an animal lover in general... I grew up with a petting zoo at home and now I have my own petting zoo at my own house now that I am moved out. :)
