I use to be the one to sleep in late, go to bed late, and for some reason my sleeping has flipped to an extreme, I am waking up earlier and earlier, 2 weeks ago it was at 7:00 AM, now I am at 3:00 AM, I just wake up and can't go back to sleep, even if I stay up til midnight, or 1:00, I wake up at 3:00.. I have talked to my doctor, have a bunch of differerent sleeping pills, and on Vicodin for a muscle injury, so I have no problem getting to sleep, but nothing will keep me asleep. So, I end up going to bed earlier, which is causing issues with my wife, we both work independtly, and don't go to work at a certain time, she likes to stay up late, and now I am not able to.

Any ideas? I did try to recondition my schedule by staying up later and later, but no effect and it ran me down for the day. I am very rested during the day, just now can't go out togeather at night since I start falling asleep.

Thanks sweety, anxiety has been ruled out, do have a seizure disorder that mimics anxiety, but on medication for that. I have 2 doctors, an Internal and a Neurologist that are at a loss of ideas, so turning here.

Thanks Daffy! Quiet time is necessary, an dI get it in the morning and she gets it at night, but during the day I am in front of the computer, we use to go out to late night plays and such, but that has ended. She is always bugging me to spend more time with her, granted, we are around each other non-stop. I am being careful with the vicodin, been on it many times before, ahd a bad muscle injury and plagued with headaches, I take them in moderation, no where near enough to cause an addiction, and I try not to take them daily, but thank you for your concerns.

Maybe I am doing it for alone time, since we both work from ome mostly. However, noting exciting, I'd rather watch tv, but dont want to wake her up and nothing on that early, so I end up here, haha

That sounds like my household! I'm the one that goes to bed by 8pm and am up at 4am. I know it has to do with having a young son and I feel that I need to get up and get things done before he wakes up. But now I'm so conditioned to this I can't sleep in! Last night I worked until 10:30pm and did not get home and to sleep until after midnight. But, here I am at 5am typing away and I woke up at 4:30am! My husband has just gotten to the point where he knows that I can't make it through most evening events. If I go to a movie, I will fall asleep. Actually, it works very well for us 90% of the time. In the evening he enjoys the quite time to read and watch anything he likes on tv, and in the morning I get my quiet time. Hopefully you will both adjust to this. I wouldn't take sleeping pills and be careful with the Vicodin, I have a brother-in-law who was taking them for arthritis pain and he is terribly addicted to them now. I wish you well!

Perhaps you have lost an activity with this 'muscle injury' and feel down about it. You mention spending time with the Mrs a lot. Do you need to spend more time with her of less? There's a sort of helplessness coming through from your responses to the answers so far. Happy pills could help.

Believe it or not, accupuncture worked for me. After just 3 visits, I no longer woke up at 3 am. Or if I did I could get right back to sleep, whereas before, I would be awake an hour or two before getting back to sleep.

One of the first signs of anxiety and or depression is a change in eating or sleeping habits, would be a good idea to go into your family Dr. and check with him to rule these things out.

Most people don't get adequate sleep for their
busy schedule. But, sleep deprivation destroys
not only physical health, but also mental health.
