If your mums name is on the mortgage she might be entitled to some mortgage interest payments, but only if shes on income support or income based jobseekers.
Also if shes on the mortgage she'l be responsible for paying it, so would be evicted if it came to that. She wouldn't get help for renting it because she's the owner.
The best thing to do is sell the property before you move out, that way you wont get into arrears, and it'll give your mum more time to find somewhere else. If she puts her name down for local authority property or housing association, they should still have a duty to rehouse her as she's losing her home through geuine financial hardship.
If you have lots of debts like credit cards, loans etc you should try and get a hold put on them until you sell the house, If you cant pay them in full, you could try and offer full and final settlement on them for a proportion of the debt.
When you sell the house, you'll need to watch out how much you give your mum as if shes on means tested benefit, it can be reduced if she has too much capital.
Please dont listen to the people whos advice is based on assuming your mum is a dole scrounger and youre out to make a quick buck on the house. Theyve probably never been unlucky enough to lose a job or be too sick to work.

Talk to them at the council. No guarantees, but she may be able to be classified as a renter. If she is unemployed and you can prove you don't live there, then she will qualify for help. Your local council is used to hearing ALL kinds of stories.
Just remember that when they ask for documentation, bring originals and try to think positive. It will work out and your mother will be ok.
It isn't as complicated as it sounds. Believe it or not, the council will probably have some sort of form for this situation. You just make sure you have all the documents they request and turn everything in on time and you will get the help.
Good luck.

Tell your mother to get a job she is an adult!
Manage your finances and keep the flat as the discount you have already got from the government is to help you get on the property ladder not to sell and keep the profit to pay for your lavish lifestyle. Live within your means and save money to buy what you want, that way you wont pay twice as much back!
Why do so many people find it acceptable to screw the system?

Honey I am a single mom with no where near the education you claim to have and I do not receive the benefits that you receive the only thing I get is health care for my children not myself. i have 2 children and I have never received a dime of child support but I do work and support my children on my own and I pay rent as well. Therefore I do not see any reason if you are telling the truth about your education that you should be on so much government support other than you are lazy. And yes if you move home with your parents you will probably have your benefits reduced.

The best that would happen is the interest would be paid on the mortgage for a while. Lets face it - the government aren't going to pay your mum to buy the flat for you are they ?????

She will not be entitled to housing benefit as it is a bought and not rented.
The D.H.S.S will pay the mortgage but not the interest on the flat if it is in your Mothers name and she is in receipt of benefits.

Time to take some personal responsibility. It was your decision to arrange your finances and family life the way you have. YOU have got yourself into debt. Sure, you want to be with your fiance, but then again there are lots of thing I want to do, but I can't for various reasons.
Why should the state bail you out? It's your responsibility. Face up to it and stop trying to get handouts.

if the mortgage is in your name then you are labile for it but if its only in your mothers name then she can claim benefits for it, which she should already be doing, then again if its in your name the mortgage company would want to know your mothers financial details too.
