supervisor who seem to enjoy making things difficult for me. She keeps stressing that I must be not afraid to ask her things but when I'm unsure how to go about doing my work and approached her, she would make a fool out of me with alot of words and insults to put me down and humiliates me infront of my colleagues.

There are a lot of such people in this world. You don't really need to be too bother by such people. Even you job hopped to another employer, yoyu may still face the same problem. if you really unable to work with her, maybe you should tell your manager about the facts but you must also know the consequences if thing backfired.
Personally, I think you could also ask your colleagues in the same team and I think they are willing to help you too.

Get over it and learn from her. If you are asking the same questions more than once, be sure you write things down as a reference. I feel she should not humiliate you in front of others, when she does that, ask her if you can have the discussion away from your colleagues.
