what are the rules of using 'unless'? i know it can be used to replace the conditional sentences but i have a problem when i have to convert this sentence: You can borrow my pen if you really need it. (I tried you can borrow my pen unless you really don't need it but it's wrong) so i need to solve this question and generate a rule for it. can anyone help?

Grammar rule: We use unless to say that something will happen if something else doesn't stop it happening.

"You can't borrow my pen unless you really need it."
