I have a sister-in-law that I have bent over backwards to be kind to and she is nasty to me regardless. Why???

Hi there honey.
I know how you feel. Sometimes there are people who are so unhappy in their own lives that no matter what you do they cannot be friendly or normal back. You have no way of knowing what it is that is making her so unhappy and you probably never will know. Happy people are friendly and nice to other people, have you ever noticed that? Some people just seem to think that they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. She is probably just unhappy. I would leave her alone but still let her know that you are there. She may decide at some point in time that she would like a friend, then again she may not. Quit worrying about it, it is NOT your fault, that is for sure.

Maybe she feels that you are a threat to her position, sort of like she's competing against you to be the best in-law or something...or maybe she was brought up in a family where she feels as though people are only nice to her when they wanted something from her....or maybe you are just too good looking!
Then again, this is only my opinion. There could be millions of reasons for people to dislike others, heck, some even hate others for no reason....So it's down to you to either investigate or leave it alone...or try some different approach - celebrating some occasion (Christmas might be good) as a family at your place, family outing...whatever, and ask people (including her) how they are going with their current project or about something that makes them tick (in a good way). Only if it doesn't work, then leave it alone.
She may be nasty to you and it may seem personal, but the whole issue could be something totally different and might even have nothing to do with you! =)

Because she doesn't respect you. You are so much of a push over that she relized you'll do whatever, whenever no matter how she treats you. Stop being so nice and tell her that she disrespecting you! And in order for you to do anything more for her, she needs to cut the nastiness or you won't bother.

Unfortunately there are just some people out there like that. You can do and do and do for them and they just don't care. I know that it is family but, you need to just stop trying. When your around her just ignore her . If she asks you a question or something like that go ahead and answer it you don't have to be rude but, give her the answer and leave it at that. You don't need people like that in your life and be nice to the ones that are nice back and deserve it.

Maybe she knows that you are bending over backwards instead of actually being yourself. She could be a person who responds better to REAL people, instead of FAKE ones.

Because noone cares about anyone anymore, i found that out the hardway. Gone are the days when people did things for you and didnt expect anything in return.
