yes, we're a "sporting nation", can't deny that. i however did... kinda.. get a D+ in fitness. anyways, i feel that the universities here aren't up to the world's standards. is it so wrong to want the best? but it's so hard because every application i look at always requires you to complete an IB which has different grading and requirements such as charity work. does it matter if you don't do that?

i don't mean to sound like i'm raining on your Answers. they're great but do many of you actually live in Australia? except for those who give aussie unis the thumbs up. we don't have SATs here... at least i don't think so... correct me if i'm wrong. i think each state has their own high school certificate: VCE, ... and yeah... i suppose what i'm really wondering is... well, i'm studying for a VCE certificate.. aka victorian certificate of education, it's the one expected of my state, is that sufficient enough to get me into a uni since it's way too late for me to switch to a school that does the IB

As a nation I find Australians rather insular. They can talk for hours how good they are as sportsmen.I believe sport is the reason why education standards seem to be lower than other Western countries.I hope your an exception and go to a terrific university in the States or England.

Forget about IB.

Take SAT 1 and SAT 2

That'll be suffiencient for you to apply for Ivy league universities (harvard, yale, princeton, standford, Upenn etc etc). They'll take you if you can convince them that you're the guy they want.

Nevertheless I must say that getting good result in IB would offer you a better standing compared to others, albeit that is not the ultimate determining factor.

Anyone, regardless of where they live, may apply to the 'top universities in the world' by actually filling out an application to the school and sending it to them ... the same way everyone else does. If you're qualified academically, you'll get accepted!
