Especially mental hospitals?
My favorite is Danvers State Hospital, thanks to Session 9.
Thank you SO MUCH, Brad!

Danvers was demolished over the summer.

I'm not a fan of Session 9. Too many kids broke into Danvers after seeing the movie, destroyed things, spray painted, etc, causing the security to be boosted and ruined it for the rest of us who just wanted to explore.

Anything abandoned should not be publicized. It just creates more problems.

My favorite is (or was) Byberry in Philadelphia.

There's a growing interest in preserving the old-time mental hospitals. Danvers is one. I grew up near the one in Traverse City, MI and was always really fascinathed by it. A lot of the old-timers were designed according to something called the Kirkbride Plan. Google that and you'll get some interesting Websites. If the obsession is more than architectural (e.g., like breaking into them), then I got nothin'.

Well how intresting.
With the sudden on rush of people leaving some metro areas there are more empty buildings.I have marvelled at the construction of some. But I wounder as I see old hotels and motels or inns that are empty what type person has stayed there. Not fooling around but was it an actor or a government official or a honeymoon.I've wondered what stories they hold and what memories are there.

Like ghostowns? I visisted Rhyolite, NV. Death Valley has Scottys Castle. Have yet to visit it.

Most ghost towns are on private property. Some razed due to being tax per building on the property and being a liability. Others on gov't land.

Not much to see now. I just like to read about them.

Yeah man,

I have so many pics that I took of various abandoned buildings. Its weird you bought this up because i was considering doing this on Saturday. I've been to abandoned, office blocks, fire houses, mansions and even an abandoned gym.

I love the places

I love to see these fantastic new apartment buildings that are supposed to be constructed, the construction company starts building and you think whoaa look at that, wow and then the apartments never get finished ! They are left standing for all the world to see what could have been!
