I cannot download any patches for my machine, so does this mean my machine is not affected by any of the new vunerabilities?

I know the simple answer is to upgrade, however this is not an option as some of my programs do not work with SP2.

Any advice on this would be grand. thanks

Your machine is not suddenly more at risk than before. Your machine has been more at risk for more than a year already! You *really* must install SP2 (and the many security updates that came after it) - it patches many important security holes.

SP1 is fully supported for security patches. However, not all vulnerabilities can be fixed on SP1. You must apply SP2.

If you have any programs that don't work with SP2, you should get them upgraded.

Yes, you WILL be more vulnerable than SP2 users, but as you have said, you don't have any other choice. By the way which programs do you use that will run on Windows SP1 but not SP2?? That's very ridiculous.

Yes you will no longer receive security patches as they are released from MSoft. An vulnerabilities that are discovered will no longer be patched for you.

Are you sure the programs on your system don't work on sp2? perhaps you should get with your programs publisher and see if patches to work around this problem are available...

Get SP2 then find updates for your programs! Try the home site of the program e.g. Adobe etc
