Can anyone shed light on the current bill being discussed in the California Government about the cull on pitbulls ? The bill number is SB861, but I can't find it.......Surely animal lovers around the world can stop this legislation from being passed..........

The answers are on Snopes, I saw it a few hours ago.

It appears its all a big misunderstanding and that basically a nice excuse for a bit of public hysteria

I'm not sure that any given species should be 'exterminated ' but unfortunately certain breeds of animals just are not acceptable for your average back-yard .
i live in oz and our state ( Queensland ) have outlawed American pit bull terriers because of the ongoing injuries they've caused ( particularly in the case of children ) and indeed deaths .
they are a hunting and fighting dog with genes that probably don' t do any canine owner a reputable reason to own them .
some owners are as bad as the dog itself ( this is in no way a reflection on you ) but the harsh reality is you can't take the chance that your dog won't ' turn ' .
in oz we can't keep crocodiles , dingoes ( except in extenuating circumstances ) in our yards .
at the end of the day you need to weigh up whether you the lead with your heart or head . the liabilities could be enormous. good luck.

I enjoy animals, and I love people. Unfortunately, there are some breeds of dogs who are dangerous to my loved ones, and one of them is pit bulls. Why anyone is scared enough to use one for protection is beyond my comprehension.Would you walk around growling at everyone? That's what you are doing, even with a docile animal. It can turn, and sometimes does. I hope they all die of some dread disease that doesn't touch any other animal. Jeffrey Daumer didn't kill everyone, but he killed enough. ditto pitbulls.

Domestic animals become how people treat and raise them. Pit bulls are terrific dogs, but when raised and trained in a wrong manner (aggressively, etc), they tend to become aggressive. That is how their nature works.

Again, it is one of the many examples in which the animal has to pay for the actions of humans.

Please do not give up on the transcendant Pitbull...... He's with us from a far away Empire, where he's a steady companion during the hunt for survival in a Post Nuclear Era Far Away In the Passed. Interbread by people? Hide them from the Law. Their Story has to be told.....
