Sometimes it's quite convincingly possible, but that's very different from saying that any boy can be made to look convincingly like a girl.

Yes, it's possibile if you start with a very feminine boy -- remember that there's a lot of overlap between males and females.

And it's also possible the other way round -- some girls don't require much to make them look very convincingly male. And remember many girls have very little (or no) breast development and many have at least some male-type facial and body hair.

Some girls are naturally, without even trying, more masculine than some boys. And conversely, some boys are naturally, without even trying, more feminine than many girls.

However the average boy doesn't make all that convincing a girl, and the average girl isn't that convincing when masquerading as a boy.

Ok, this is where is gets tough: between muscle size (things like broad shoulders) as well as protruding jaw-lines and adam's apples you'd need to be quite rich to afford enough plastic surgery or, more dramatically, a sex-change operation to hide such features (both are very very expensive, however).

I used to live near Montrose (gay district) for college so I have become unafraid of cross-dressers and such have not found them aggressive or meeting any of the nasty stereotypes some people have of them. It seems people who do this sort of thing manage to find areas of towns and special bars, clubs, etc. where that sort of thing does not really matter (IE 90% girlish looking is as good as 100% for them).
I'd say try and change the people you hang around rather than struggle for the look.

Yes, generally the younger the boy the easier it is to make him look like a convincing girl. As they get older the hormones develop secondary sexual characteristics that we associate will maleness. A mature man can still be made to look like a passable female but it is very rare. Most men who try on women's clothes, wigs, make-up, etc. only look like monsters.
