we have to compare things so we understand them better...we get into another psychology..what i mean is that when you compare yourself with actions of yourself is because you want to see how you acted that specific moment..and if you compare yourselfs with others is because you want to see what other ppl woukld do if they were you..it s just the way it goes...ppl need a back up thats why they compare...

It's not bad to reminisce and try to rate our present with that of the past. There's nothing wrong about it. It's yesterday that lead us to what we are today. The past will serve as the mirror wherein we can learn from our mistakes and do it rightly at present. It's very inspiring to dig up our roots so that we can spring forth into something of worth not only for today but also tomorrow.

Living without remembering is called Alzheimer's Disease.
From what I have seen and heard its the worse thing in the world.
You can't remember loved ones, triumphs, friends, and you wont' remember if doing a task is right or not because you can't remember how you did it before.
Comparison has its good points too!

if u happy now, then u have no reason to doubt and refer to your past....if u not happy then obviously u will refer to your past to help you cope with your present situation.

and surprisingly enough, you only go back to your HAPPY experiences from your past whenever you reflecting-you hardly ever go back to horrible memories.

there was a study that proves, that no matter how bad a particular situation was or how horrible a certain person was, after a few years, u usually only remeber the good stuff. the brain works like that. amazing huh!

The first mental technique we develop is memory, it ensures our survival as we should be able to learn which behaviours gives us the best outcomes and which are to be avoided. This should be how we operate as we get older and have more experiences. Experiences that are hugely significant to us will keep coming back to us to prompt us into action when we are unsure what to do, think of the past as reference material.
