Natural calamities cannot be overcomed but atleast we can prevent the casualities by predicting the devastations with today's advanced scientific tools and systems.

In recent technological world nothing is impossible. But then it should be remembered that any reaction may not led to further devastation. For ex- if any outside comet is coming close to Earth then it can be destroyed using N-bombs.But what will it result to humans.
Then there could be earthquakes for which frequency radars could be an alternative.Volcanic eruption is difficult to control as it may lead to further explosion.Best way to survive Tsunamis is to get prior information about it.

No. Nature has the upper hand in every thing in creation.Calamities and devastation's are part of the scheme of Nature. Man is also a tiny part in the scheme of things of Nature. He has to accept Nature's command just like any other thing in creation.

do you think all that carbon dioxide, methane, acid percipitaion, and other pollutants contributing to the destruction of the ozone layer and the increase of greenhouse gasses is natural? they were man-made which led to the global warming and melting ice caps, rising sea levels, floods, droughts, hurricanes... blame the people, who also over fished the oceans and throwing trash in the oceans, and manufacturing toxious plastic. if we lived the way we did before the industrial revolution, then all these things probably wont happen so frequently. it's not my fault, i wasnt even born then.
