Is it legal for an officer to beat on the door and tell you they have a warrant, then threaten to knock down the door if you don't open it?
Even if they are lying about having one and don't have you sign it or show it to you until the following day.

There is no more "Knock and Announce Rule" if the officer had a warrant at the time he came to your home, he didn't have to knock or announce who he was at anytime, However, he did in fact have to produce the warrant to you. If you have seen the warrant or have a copy of it, look at the date and time it was signed by the issuing judge. Did it come before or after the police came to your home. If not any evidence obtained during their search would be no good. If you have a court date set, ask for the court to appoint you legal counsel, if you cannot afford to obtain your own. Be sure to share this information with your attorney so they can try to enter a motion to the court to have any evidence obtained through this illegal search thrown out. Not to mention, a search warrant must be detailed, did they search areas of your home that wasn't listed on the warrant, your car, friends car, everything is supposed to be as specific as possible.
Was the warrant a search warrant or was it a warrant issued for your arrest? All that plays key also, but still it had to be issued before they came to your home.

I live in Michigan too. Since when have the police cared about legal? They break the law all of the time. Their attitude seems to be they can do what they want, when they want, and who is going to stop them? The judge will always believe the officer over the civilian.
