I normally wear track suit pants and a singlet top to the gym, but since the weather has got warmer I need to wear shorts. I was thinking of wearing my shinny black lycra bike shorts that I wear cycling. They are fine for cycling, but is this a good idea for the gym (fashion no no) or should I just wear normal shorts?

Thank you to all who responded. I guess I was right in the first place. I didn't think it was the way to go...thats why I asked the question.

Honestly.... I think as long as you're comfortable then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. If you want to attract girls.... personality is more attractive. Just be yourself and don't let fashion ruin anything. Good luck!

I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but answer this. I know that those tight (perhaps a little too tight) biking shorts are quite popular for riding, but I laugh almost every time I drive by a man wearing one. In addition, cyclists always wear those rediciously bright colored shirts, although I know they are for being seen by cars. Personally, I think you can get away with riding, but dude, don't wear those to the gym. There are some girls and many guys including myself who would mock you for your poor choice in workout apparel. I think that the only people who actually look good in those shorts are women, cause I don't want to see a guys you know what bulging out!

Just wear normal shorts. Bike shorts are only acceptable when you're on a bike, and even then they're hard to look at!

You can wear them to the gym just wear regular shorts over them. Bike shorts are really for bikes. You might attract more men with the bike shorts at the gym than women.

I personally would wear normal shorts, but if you're there to attract girls, then you might want to go with the bike shorts. Whatever you feel comfortable in.

If you ride your bike to the gym then its OK. Otherwise stick with regular shorts.
I always think of the Dilbert cartoon: Problem: uncomfortable bike seat. Solution: Dorky Pants.
